BEST EVER DIVINE CASSEROLE

BEST EVER DIVINE CASSEROLE                                                                                                              Casseroles may seem like a modern dish, but actually they go further back to cooks of yesteryear , who knew the value of saving on meal preparation of time and ingredients.  The casseroles of today are only limited by a cook’s imagination and budget. Although this casserole has listed ingredients, feel free to substitute food ingredients that you and your family prefer. In combining foods for a casserole, blending flavors and textures are basic characteristics.  Experimentation is a big part of fun cooking. Easy, economical, elegant, elaborate  only begin’s to describe casseroles .                BEST EVER DIVINE CASSEROLE is a family favorite .  Served with a salad, bread, and a simple dessert such as pudding or fresh fruit is an easy meal for any homemaker.

1 pound ground round or chuck

1/4 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

2 cans (8 0zs. each) tomato sauce with garlic (may substitute plain tomato sauce and add 1/2 tsp. garlic powder)

1 1/2 cups sour cream

1/2 cup chopped green onions

1/2 cup (2 ozs.) cream cheese, oftened

1 1/2 cups  (about 5 0zs. ) shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese, or your favorite cheese

4 cups hot cooked spaghetti (about 8 ozs. uncooked)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.In a large nonstick skillet, cook meat over medium heat , until browned, stirring to crumble.

Drain well and return meat to pan. Stir in salt, black pepper and tomato sauce. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for about 20 minutes. In a small bowl combine sour cream , chopped green onions, and softened cream cheese and set aside.

Coat a 2 quart casserole with cooking spray, add cooked pasta. Spread the sour cream mixture over the pasta. Add meat mixture and sprinkle with the shredded cheese. Cover with aluminum foil and bake 25 minutes.

Uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes or until cheese is bubbly. Serves 6 to 8. Prep time is minimal. Allows you, the cook , to enjoy  a great meal with your family. Casseroles or one-dish meals are my favorite for prep, cooking , and easy cleanup. Enjoy BEST EVER DIVINE CASSEROLE!
